Blown film

Blown film is quite common in the industry, as we can see it both in the classic fruit and vegetable bags and in the cling film rolls in our kitchens.

ZIMIA: AN ALTERNATIVE TO CONVENTIONAL PLASTICS

The bioplastic grades developed by Prime Biopolymers have been designed to perform in a similar manner to conventional plastics but with the added virtue of being a sustainable and environmentally friendly material.

WHAT DOES BLOWN FILM CONSIST OF?

Bioplastic grades are extruded through a die to form a thin-walled tube. Air is then introduced to blow the tube to the upper part as it gradually cool down. The material eventually passes through pressure rollers, where it is flattened.

After passing through other rollers, the material passes through the well-known trimming rollers, which cut the edges to make two sheets of film that are wrapped onto reels.

Main applications

Fruit and vegetable bags
