Thermoforming

Due to its wide range of applications, extrusion thermoforming is a widely manufacturing method used in the plastics industry.

ZIMIA REPLACES PETROLEUM-BASED PLASTICS

ZIMIA bioplastics developed by Prime Biopolymers have a very similar behaviour to that of conventional plastics. In addition, they can be processed by conventional machinery without inconveniences.

Companies practically obtain the same results as they do when using petroleum-derived plastics but with the advantage of working with a more sustainable material, which adapts to the European Directive and meets the demands of consumers when it comes to more environmentally conscious products.

WHAT IS EXTRUSION THERMOFORMING?

The pellets are pressed with a screw or spindle through a die, forcing the material through and getting it to adapt to the shape of the sheet.

Subsequently, the sheet is heated until it softens and is formed by pressing it through a mold into the desired final shape.

Main applications

Plastic trays and clamshells

Plastic plates

Yoghurt

Glasses
