14 BIOPLASTICS with OK COMPOST INDUSTRIAL certification
Prime Biopolymers can now offer a complete catalog of biodegradable raw materials for the plastics industry. These bioplastics biodegrade naturally, converting into CO2, fertilizer and water. In addition to rapid biodegradation, it prevents the production of pollution in the form of persistent microplastics, as happens in the case of traditional plastic.
More than 4 years of continuous development in R&D have been necessary, as well as constant work of adjustments and validations in industrial production. Indeed, each of these new Bioplastics has been developed in collaboration with industrial packaging manufacturers, who have verified for each of them their optimal performance in real production, using the same machinery as for traditional plastics.
The certification obtained through TÜV-Austria is of the highest demand and requires tests of biodegradation, chemical analysis, disintegration and ecotoxicity, according to the most demanding standards. It even checks the quality of the resulting fertilizer through the monitored final growth of live plants.
Prime Biopolymers can therefore now offer a complete catalog of certified biodegradable materials for the main industrial methods:
INJECTION six different grades, substitutes for high- and low-density polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene, as well as a grade for blown injection to replace PET.
BLOWN FILM: three different grades that replace high- and low-density polyethylene, polypropylene and PET for film applications such as bags, envelopes, etc.
EXTRUSION: Four different grades for sheet fabrication, coating, profile extrusion and straw manufacturing applications.
EXTRUSION-BLOWN: a substitute grade for high-density polyethylene.
By offering these advanced bioplastics, Prime Biopolymers helps transition the plastics industry toward a more environmentally responsible future. The functionality and good industrial results of these raw materials facilitate the evolution towards biodegradable packaging that allows us to rid the environment of persistent microplastics and their harmful effects on nature and our health.
